Here is a little information about some of our current committee members.
Executive Committee Frank DeMayo, Co-Chair. Frank has been volunteering with CT P.R.I.D.E. for six years, and is a Board Member and former Co-President of the New Haven Gay and Lesbian Community Center, and also a former Board Member of the Guilford Chamber of Commerce. Frank says, "I strive to bring the LGBT community into the spotlight. My goal is to make Connecticut Pride as well-attended as New York City Pride." Jason Benoit, Co-Chair. Jason has been volunteering with CT P.R.I.D.E. since 2001, starting as a general committee member, becoming Secretary for the 2002 P.R.I.D.E. year, and Co-Chair in 2003. Jason has been active in the LGBTI community since first attending a now-disbanded, Middletown-based, LGBTI youth group as a teenager (we won't talk about how long ago that was!). Jason says, "I want to see CT P.R.I.D.E. become a real resource for our community, and to host activities and offerings that people turn to year-round." Jerimarie Liesegang, Treasurer. David Murphy, Secretary. David has been volunteering with CT P.R.I.D.E. since 2000. David enjoys attending live rock music shows, going to the beach, going to happy hours with work friends, and sleeping. He is affiliated with the CT Water Resources Committee and the CT Section of American Water Works. David says, "I got involved the year that pride was almost cancelled, after an ad was placed in the paper looking for new committee members. I continue to make sure that pride continues!" General Committee Membership Mary Young, Chairperson - Resource Management and Development Subcommittee. This is Mary's 2nd year volunteering with CT P.R.I.D.E. Billy Urich Kelly Woodard George Chien has been volunteering with CT P.R.I.D.E. for two years. George is also Pastor of MCC Hartford, and is also affiliated with Rainbow Interfaith Covenant & Outreach and the True Colors conference. George says, "Pride has never been more important - we are on the threshold of equality and freedom. The world needs to see our faces and hear our voices. We need to let our light shine."
