CTAC

Founded  in  November  of  2002  as  an  outgrowth  of  Connecticut's  first  annual  observance of  the  Transgender  Day  of  Remembrance,  the  Connecticut  TransAdvocacy  Coalition  (CTAC)  is  the  state's  primary  group  working  for  full  legal  protection  and  inclusion  for  trans  and  gender  variant  people.

Education,  advocacy  and  support  are  CTAC's  basic  tenets.  Through  this  organization's  efforts,  gender  identity  and  expression  were  added  as  protected  classes  under  Connecticut's  Hate  Crimes  Legislation.  Currently,  a  similar  expansion  of  the  state's  anti-discrimination  laws  is  being  sought.

Additionally,  a  number  of  domestic  violence  shelters  are  now  trans-inclusive  in  their  mission,  due  primarily  to  CTAC's  efforts.  To  learn  more,  visit  their  website,  www.transadvocacy.com  or  e-mail  info@transadvocavy.com
