NEWS UPDATE:
|
March 20, 2006
|
The Train Station Committee has been hard at work. At this time,
there is a meeting scheduled with Dean Amadon, who is completing the
appraisal on the Train Station. We expect to be in receipt of the appraisal
no later than March 31, 2006.
At that time, all the initial paperwork will be completed and ready to be
sent to Amtrak to begin the negotiations that, we hope, will eventually
lead to us acquiring the Train Station and property.
We contracted John Curtis, of Brimfield, MA to prepare a
Historical Architectural Study of the Train Station. On March 10, 2006, Mr.
Curtis came to Windsor Locks and performed a site inspection of the
Station and gathered more information from our past studies.
The Historical Achitectural Study Report was
received March 20 and will be formly presented at a group meeting at the end of the month.
In the report, Mr. Curtis focused on the architectural importance of the
Station as well as the immediate urgency of addressing the condition of
the structure itself.
Barbara Schley has spoken with Tom Elmore in regards to obtaining a concept
drawing of the site work and Station. This drawing would show a 2 dimensional
view of what we hope the Station and surrounding property will look like.
We should have further information posted later in the week with regards to the
drawing and when it may be available.
More details will be posted here as they become available.
