Out In The Park
- An Event
- And An Organization
It all began in 1997. Inspired by Gay &
Lesbian Day At Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in Orlando Florida,
someone had the idea to start a Gay Day
at Riverside Park in Agawam MA (now,
Six Flags New England).
We kept picking the date, started a website,
and told everyone to bring their friends and "family".
There were over 1,000 people for the first event!
They came, they had fun, and they kept coming back every year!
They also brought more friends and family with them.
In 2003, Out In The Park At Six Flags New England became an
official event
(+)
with special discount coupons for attendees.
Of the ten events that we have planned this year,
nine are official
with special discounts and offers
($)
for attendees!
In 2004, we celebrated our 8th year!
We also formed an organization to specifically plan and organize
a festival with GLBT entertainers and vendors inside the amusement park.
Out In The Park 2004 also became one of the largest
GLBT-centric events in New England with between 5,000 to 7,000 attendees!
If you haven't been yet,
join us this year (always the 3rd Sunday of September) for
The Biggest Gay Day At New England's Biggest Amusement Park!
We are expecting over 10,000 attendees for
Out In The Park At Six Flags New England on Sunday, September 18, 2005!
Will you be one of them?
With the growing success of our signature event,
Out In The Park At Six Flags New England,
we have been inspired to begin other "Gay Days" or "Get OUT!" events
at a variety of amusment parks and renaissance faires throughout New England,
upstate New York and even Montreal Quebec!
All of these events are held in public venues and are open to the public.
The emphasis is always on fun, all-ages, social events for
the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, questioning and intersex community, our
allies, our supporters, and of course, our "families".
The events that we plan and organize are also great warm-up events to
National Coming Out Day on October 11th.
