2005

This page contains answers to frequently asked questions about Out In The Park At Six Flags New England. If you do not find an answer to your question, please email us at info at outinthepark.com, and we will do our best to answer your questions as soon as possible.
Q: What is Out In The Park?

A: Out In The Park At Six Flags New England is a Gay Day event organized by the folks at OutInThePark.com.

Out In The Park, is a dedicated group of unity-minded people that are interested in creating events that are fun, all-ages, social opportunities for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Intersex and Allies community to Get OUT with their friends and family.

Out In The Park At Six Flags New England, is one of many
Get OUT For Fun events that we plan and organize as Gay Day style events, which are open to the public. Out In The Park At Six Flags New England, really is the biggest Gay Day at New England's biggest amusement park. This event is specifically organized as an all ages, fun, social event, and as a warmup event for National Coming Out Day (celebrated on October 11th each year).
(Read more history about Out In The Park here.)

Q: Is this a family event?

A: Yes. Out In The Park At Six Flags New England, is an all ages, fun social event for the GLBTQIS community. We will be adhering to
Six Flags New England's Park Policies the day of our event. This means no lewd behavior or costumes, and all the entertainment provided by Out In The Park performers will be family friendly, as will the behavior of the staff and entertainment. Top

Q: What should I wear?

A: Gay Apparel is Optional.
But, since this is a Gay Day, and there will be thousands of other gay people wearing something GAY, why not dress for the occasion?
Be Seen, Wear RED!
Can't decide what to wear?
Red is simply not your color?

SHOP!

Q: Can I dress up? In drag?

A: Yes, if you choose to, that is your option. Everyone must keep in mind that we will be adhering to
Six Flags New England's Park Policies the day of our event.

It is important to keep in mind that there is only ONE permanent "Family / Unisex / Handicap Accessible" restroom in the park. We are working on plans to provide a second restroom of this type in the River's Edge Picnic Grove during the festival.

Be forewarned, if you are in drag, park security may ask you to use a different restroom.
Remember, this is a family-oriented, all ages event.

Clothing with inappropriate words, phrases or graphics are prohibited. Shoes and shirts must be worn at all times while in the Theme Park. No inappropriate clothing will be permitted (so, leave your G-string and fishnet shorts at home). All clothing is subject to management review and discretion.

If you are up to wearing heels, make-up and a wig while riding the amusement rides, by all means, go right ahead. BUT, remember, if something falls off while you are on a ride, you will have to wait until after the park closes in order to retrieve your lost or missing items. We would recommend that everyone dress comfortably, as this is a fun, casual event.

We still remember seeing "Jackie O." back in 1997 for our first Out In The Park! She was dressed in her hot pink and black trim ensemble, complete with pillbox hat, white gloves and heels! She looked FAB-U-LOUS!

But, we do not remember seeing her ride the roller coasters. Maybe she feared she might loose her hat or heels!

Though, if you do decide to dress up, we're sure that someone will want to take your picture!

Q: I am disabled, is the Six Flags New England amusement park accessible?

A: Six Flags New England's park is quite accessible by wheelchair, though not all rides are able to accommodate a wheelchair up to the point where you get on the ride. We would recommend reviewing the
Six Flags New England Guest Services Information, and specifically, the GUESTS WITH DISABILITIES section.

Six Flags New England does have a special printed brochure that should answer most of your questions. Please call the park at 413-786-9300 and request the "Guide to fun at the Park for Guests with Disabilities" brochure.

Top

Q: Does Out In The Park receive any money from this event?

A: Out In The Park does receive a small portion of the money from the sale of the
Tickets specifically purchased for, and labeled "Out In The Park, Sunday, September 18, 2005", from sponsors, donors, and from the sale of Official Out In The Park clothing and merchandise.

However, money raised will first go to pay for a few outstanding bills from the 2004 festival and advertising. After these bills are paid, we will use some to cover our operating costs, and to plan, organize, and promote future events. A portion of proceeds will also go to GLBT-friendly service organizations. Since we are no longer part of Project 100/Hartford Community Center, we are looking for other worthy causes.

Q: Is Six Flags New England sponsoring or planning this event?

A: No, the folks at OutInThePark.com plan and organize this event. We have since 1997!

For the third year in a row, Six Flags New England is working with the Out In The Park to help us make our event the most successful yet!

We really are extremely greatful for all of the gracious and professional assistance the staff at SFNE has, and continues to share with us.

This year, we have negotiated use of the River's Edge Picnic Grove in order to host a special catered picnic option for guests that purchase either
Deluxe Out In The Park Package or the Super Out In The Park Package. Remember, these "meal inclusive" packages MUST be purchased by September 3, 2005.

As always, the park is open to anyone who wishes to come to the park on any given day. Everyone is welcome at Out In The Park At Six Flags New England.

What is a Q-Bot
and a FASTLANE PASS?

If you enjoy riding the most popular rides a lot, then you might want to consider obtaining a Q-Bot, so you can use the FASTLANE entrances of designated rides, like Superman, Batman and SCREAM.
After you enter the park, go to the Q-Bot / Fast Lane office and get a Q-Bot.

It does cost extra, but if you love riding the busiest, most thrilling rides, like Superman, The Cyclone, Batman, The Mind Eraser, SCREAM, and more, it will be worth it because you do not have to wait in line to get on a ride and you can ride multiple times. You do have to be at the ride at a park specified time. But, So worth it. It will make it easier for you to get on more rides, more times, and have more fun. Get there EARLY (like when the park opens)!

Where
Do I Meet
Everyone?

Try going to the 10 acre River's Edge Picnic Grove. In 2004 we will be hosting a Festival from 3:00pm to 8:00pm with GLBT entertainers and vendors!

If you get lost or separated from your friends and family while in the park, the best place to wait for them (and watch lots of people go by), is the Gazebo on Main Street. The Gazebo is located at the main intersection of the entire park (near SCREAM, the tallest white tower with the flags on top).

Everyone has to go by the Gazebo to get to any other section of the park. There are lots of food vendors close by too, so you won't starve while you are waiting to catch up with your friends. Think of all the eye candy... :)

The
